Worksheet 1: Sentences for Routines – Routines are one of the most common use cases for present simple tense and your student will practice working out the present simple form of the given verb and complete each sentence.

Worksheet 2: Permanent Things and Facts – Similar to worksheet one, but this one is all about permanent situations and facts, both of which are another common use for the simple present tense.

Worksheet 3: Simple Present Negative – In this worksheets students are given a gapfill with either do/does not and the verb. They have to discern which to use and complete the form.

Worksheet 4: Negative Contractions – Like worksheet 3, this one is all about choosing the right negative form, but in the contracted form don’t/doesn’t. These two worksheets could be used together.

Worksheet 5: Write Negative Sentences – Now it’s time to write full sentences. Students are given full affirmative simple present sentences, but have to rewrite them in negative form.

Worksheet 6: Yes/No Questions Gapfill – Introduction to yes/no questions. Students have to work out which auxiliary verb ‘do/does’ to use.

Worksheet 7: Yes/No Full Questions – Now it’s time to write full questions in the simple present form. Full sentences are given, your students have to work out how to rearrange the syntax and write full questions.

Worksheet 8: Info Questions Gap fill – Students are given the info word ‘what/where/when etc’ and the verb to do conjugation and have to work out which one to use for each question.

Worksheet 9: Info or Yes/No Questions – Students have to work out from the context of the given question whether its a Yes/No or Info question and write in the gap fill.

Worksheet 10: Simple Present Info Questions – Here students are given gap fills and the answers to the questions. They have to work out which info word to use and complete the question.

Worksheet 11: Short Story – This is a short story and goes hand in hand with worksheet 11. This story is good practice for students to read out loud. The story is in simple present tense, and it’s a good idea to ask questions about it afterwards.

Worksheet 12: Reading Comprehension – Once you’ve completed worksheet 10, there are 10 comprehension questions on the story. It’s a good idea to ensure your students complete the answers in full sentences.
